| "It is when you give of yourself that you truly give." Kahlil Gibran Volunteers make all the difference at Senior Connections! We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities that help keep seniors in their own homes for as long as possible. What are our biggest needs? Meal Packing in the Chamblee Kitchen – Senior Connections produces almost 2,500 meals every weekday and these need to be packed for delivery to seniors. We need volunteers from 8:30 until 3:30 Monday through Friday willing to work 3-hour shifts. Minimum age to volunteer in the kitchen is 12 (with a parent or guardian) or 16 without adult supervision. Meal Packing in Chamblee (Saturdays) - For groups of 10 to 20, a Saturday meal-packing day is available. A minimum of 10 volunteers is required with a four-hour shift requested. Projects include meal packing, bread wrapping, box taping, and all other aspects of the kitchen including dishes and clean-up. Group Saturdays are particularly important as it helps lessen the workload during the week when it is harder to find enough volunteers. It is also a great team-building experience for corporate and social groups! Meal Packing in the Cobb Kitchen – A smaller operation but volunteers are needed 10 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (3-hour shift) Meals On Wheels Delivery of Routes (Weekdays) – This is about a 2-hour time commitment. Route pick-up sites include Chamblee, City of Decatur and City of Lithonia. A complete meal is delivered to a senior’s door. Volunteers pick up the route, deliver and return to the pick-up site with delivery materials. Routes must be delivered between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Drivers must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance. Meals On Wheels Delivery of Routes (Saturday) – Deliveries on Saturday are frozen meals only out of the Chamblee delivery site. No return to Chamblee is required unless meals are undeliverable for some reason. Routes are delivered from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Other Volunteer Opportunities are also available including helping out at area senior centers, administrative and project assistance and help with special events. A complete list is available on the Volunteer Application. PLEASE VOLUNTEER! If you are ready to sign up to volunteer with Senior Connections, it’s easy!
