Originally founded as the DeKalb Community Council on Aging (DCCOA) in 1973, Senior Connections is a Meals on Wheels agency providing nutritious, daily meals to seniors throughout the Metro Atlanta area and Macon, Georgia.
Senior Connections served more than 400,000 meals between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009 through its Meals on Wheels and Neighborhood Senior Center programs, nearly doubling the number of meals provided the previous fiscal year. Through the use of staff and volunteers, meals are delivered Monday through Friday to housebound seniors. For many, this is the only contact they will have that day, creating an invaluable opportunity to check on their health and condition. That’s when a meal means even more.
Six different specialized meals—from low-sodium to diabetic—are available to seniors age 50 or older. Hot meals are delivered Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Frozen meals are delivered once per week with Saturday delivery available.
